What does Remembrance Day mean to you?

  1. Remembrance day is day to remember the soldiers that have died in WW1 and WW2. All the soldiers that have died trying to protect us during war. I have had some relatives that have fought in the India-Pakistan war and the India-China war. The India-Pakistan war happened twice. Remembrance Day is important to me because I remember of some of my relatives protected my mother country in war. India and Pakistan happened because they were fighting over a piece of land called Kashmir. Pakistan said it’s their land and India said that it was theirs. Luckily, no one from my family died in war so during our Remembrance Day assembly, I can remember all the people who died in war and all the people who fought for their country and stayed alive.

  2. Remembrance Day is very close to my heart. One of my uncles fought in a war. He was one of those lucky soldiers who survived without any serious injuries. Remembrance Day is a very somber day where we take time to remember all the soldiers who either to helped Canada or helped another country in need risking their lives for our freedom and a better life for all in our country. Our poppy helps us to understand the courage, bravery and selflessness of all who have gone to help make our world a better place; for us and everyone on it.

  3. Remembrance day is a day that everybody remembers all the brave soldiers that fought in world war one and world war two. A day that you wear a poppy on your shirt to remember the soldiers that died in Flanders fields. On of my great uncles were in the navy. He cooked meals for all the soldiers on the boat. After a few years of cooking he became one of the soldiers on the boat. He never had to fight a war but he was always prepared to. My dad wanted to be a soldier when he was in high school but when he was older and had kids he decided not to, so Remembrance day is really important to me. I always wear a poppy and all my family members do too.

  4. What Does Remembrance Day Mean To Me

Remembrance Day to me is a day to remember all those people that fought in WW1, WW2 and in other wars to protect are country. I have a grandpa and he had to go to war because he was in Vietnam. In Vietnam you don't have a choice, but he did not want to go so he cut off two of his toes. He did not go because you have to be healthy and have all of your body parts to go to war. I'm glad he did not go because there was a very likely chance he would die or get really badly injured if he fought in a war.

  5. Remembrance Day to me is when we remember all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Canada’s freedom. If it wasn’t for them then we wouldn’t have free will to do what Canada allows us to do today. Although nobody related to me has fought in the war, I still remember all those soldiers who have fought for us. Remembrance Day is always an important day because it’s a day to remember everybody that have died in WW1 and WW2 but also the people that have survived but are injured or who have survived and aren’t hurt. Even though those people have survived, we still remember them because they risked their lives for Canada.

  6. For me, Remembrance Day is a day to remember all the soldiers that fought in battle for the freedom of our country, or any other reason. It is sad that some of them died so young. It is important to remember those who sacrificed their lives to fight for Canada. On this day, and throughout the month of November, a lot of people put poppies on as a reminder of these soldiers. We also have ceremonies to commemorate the soldiers that died in war. When I asked my dad if he had anybody in his family who fought in war, he said his grandfather did (my great grandfather). My mom gave the same response when I asked her about her side of the family. They both fought in World War 2.

  8. Remembrance day means remembering all the brave soldiers who died during WW1 and WW2. My great grandfather was a bomber plane pilot in WW2, he died while flying his plane. My father Joined the army when he was 19, because he was born and raised in South Korea, and in South Korea all young men have to join the army because of the threat of North Korea.

  9. To me, Remembrance Day is a day where we remember all the people who died in the war. Although I don’t have a relative (that I know of) that died in the war, it is still a very important day for me. We wear a poppy to remind us of the courage, bravery and motivation it must have took to fight in such a horrible war. It reminds us not to take things like freedom for granted. It tells us that we are lucky to live in such a great country with such great soldiers who are willing to sacrifice themselves to save us and other people. They are brave and kind, and we should remember them in our hearts, not only on Remembrance Day, but every day. They helped make the world the way it is today, although it isn’t perfect. Remembrance Day is a day where you take the time to honour, remember, and appreciate those who died fighting. I always wear a poppy and remember them, and hope that they rest in peace.

  10. Remembrance day. It’s a very important day in Canada and the United States. On that day, we celebrate the deaths of soldiers who died in war. But what does it mean to me? Well, when I think of Remembrance day, I think of the families that had losses in the war. People survive the war, but they have the horrific memories of the war. My great grandpa, Aurther Horton, had gone to WW2 as a bombardier in a Lancaster, Willie the Wolf. My grandma told me that after the war, he didn’t like to talk about it because of how many losses he witnessed and all the violence. My only hope for the future is that there aren't any more wars like WW1 and WW2.

  11. What Remembrance Day Means To Me

Remembrance day is when you think about the people who fought in wars like WW1 and WW2. When I hear the word remembrance day I usually think about my birthday the day after but most other times I think about the dead in Flanders Fields. That is why I where a poppy on remembrance day.

  12. To me, Remembrance Day is a day of remembering all the people who fought in the war and since I have relatives who were in a war (for example, my grandma’s cousin who the movie Black Hawk Down was about and my great great grandpa), it is a very important day to me. On Remembrance Day, we wear a poppy on the left side of our chest (close to our hearts). Poppies are a symbol of Remembrance Day because the graves of the soldiers who died are at Flanders Fields and poppies grew around the graves. Poppies were also a very common thing to see during World War I. Overall, Remembrance Day is a very special day and we should always be thinking about and remembering the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us.

  13. Remembrance day is a day where we remember soldiers from wars and confits throughout history. Sadly many are forgetting how bad the war truly was on paper can only tell so much and the people that fought in world war one and two are all nearly dead the youngest you could be is 88 88 it’s hard enough to find a sane 88-year-old that has all of their memories never mind one that fought in a war so many war stories die . I have one thing that always bugs me about this day how people say in world war one fought for freedom would be a much worse country if we had lost world War 1.Winch not very true if Germany would have won world war the no Nazis , holocaust, communism, the cold war and possibly nukes and world war 2.

  14. To me, Remembrance Day is very, very, VERY important. It’s not just another November 11th it’s a day to remember, and celebrate, and commemorate. It’s the best day of November. It’s THE day of November. I love wearing that poppy on my chest, because I feel like I represent my country.
On Remembrance Day I like to remember my grandfather Eugene, who was a merchant marine for World War 2. He survived the war, but he died of cancer. I love Remembrance Day, and I hope you do too.

  16. I think Remembrance Day is about all those people who fight in the World War I and World War II. Like my 94 year old great grandfather, he was a paratrooper and a prisoner of war. Luckily, he returned home but never told anyone about his experiences in the war. Unfortunately, now he has dementia, so he lives in a hospital and can’t really remember us. I like remembering Papa on Remembrance Day.

  17. To me remembrance day is a day that isn’t just for remembering the people who have died or who have survived a world war or just a war in general. To me Remembrance day is a day that we think of everyone who has died who was a war vet or anyone who died in a war. It’s not just that it’s also a day that we remember the vets family or anyone who has died during a war. However, we should just remember those war vets everyday. So in my eyes Remembrance day is just a day that happens to be celebrated as one of the only days that we should take a few minutes and think about the vets when in actual fact we should celebrate “Remembrance day every day.” Whenever I do think about the war vets my thoughts immediately wander to my grandfather who was in the korean war as a scout and my great grandfather who served in world war 2 as a soldier. That is what Remembrance day means to me.

  18. Remembrance Day is important to me because I had a great uncle his name David Rolfe.

Great uncle David was in the Canadian Merchant Marine and sailed back and forth between Halifax, Nova Scotia and England carrying supplies over seas on ships to supply the Canadian troops in WW2.

One of the convoys he was in was shot at by a German U Boat but none of the ships were hit and a Canadian destroyer scared the U Boat away.

After all that I'm thankful he lived

And then thinking that other people went through things 10,000x worse.

So it's important to remember the people who were traumatized by war.

Not only the people IN the war but people seeing the horrors, or people in concentration camps.

That is why remembrance day is so important.

  19. Remembrance Day is the day we remember the many, many soldiers who have died during war. But it is also the day we remember the soldiers that fought in a war and are still alive. I am very thankful that their are soldiers willing to go to war and protect us. My three great great uncles fought in World War I, and they all lived. Also, my great uncle Oscar fought in World War II, but unfortunately he died in the war. On Remembrance Day I can remember not only my family members that have fought in a war, but all the people who helped out during a war, including the animals.
