The big idea in this video is that the girl is showing us that the money that we spend every day we think nothing about. In a foreign country that might be going through war or natural disaster the money can help them buy food and send there kids to school.
ReplyDeleteIn one part of the video it says that in one day people can spend $5,000 on buying makeup and hair spray. If the money was put in Afghanistan it would put 145 girls in school for one year.
Another thing that I noticed was a single mother in Ghana who works 2 jobs 16 hours a day for 7 days a week, to earn $200 a year just to send her son to school!
I think that the over all message is that most people take for granted the amenities like clean running water, food, house and a democracy. Also I think that we should think less about ourselves and more about others in need.
I think the big idea in the video is that tons of money that people just spend on useless stuff you won't use can be put towards somthing better and it can actually help someone. People take stuff for granted all the time like clean water, warm clothes, a roof over our heads and a family. Some people don't have most of those things. Sometimes people see someone suffering and think "Sucks to be them." When really you should think of a way to help. A little help can go a long way in those countries with barely any clean water, food, and a house.
ReplyDeleteI think the big idea is about this person showing us that all the money that people spend could be used for more important things like giving people food, shelter and medicen where they can't get it. The video shows pictures of adults and children in these countries where they can't get all the things that we have. Then it's showing what we could do to give some money to give them what they need in the picture. The video says "in these dark ages...your not alone" the part that says "these dark ages" means that they're having a hard time because they don't have what they need. Then when it says "your not alone" it means there are people in the world who help the less forunate and they are getting a bit of what they need, but if we all help them then they will have everything that they need, like us. I think we should all help out with this cause and help tyhese people live a happy life like us.

I think the big idea of this video is that we buy way to much stuff that we don't need, like video games, and we could really be using it to help foreign countries get past war, natural disasters and other terrible things.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I noticed is that one mother in Ghana would work 2 jobs, 16 hours a day for an entire week just to earn $200 in one year to send her son to school. (This is CRAZY!!!)
One last thing that I noticed is that we spend over $5,000 on hairspray(mostly girls.) and make-up(also girls.) in ONE YEAR. If this money was used to help out the people in Afghanistan, it WOULD BE ENOUH TO SEND 145 GIRLS TO SCHOOL FOR ONE YEAR!
I think that what we can really do with the money we spend in our every day lives is amazing. We can give indepence to windows in Afghanistan, help street children in Calcutta have a meal, and many other things. I think we should start doing these things, and not just go around, buying some cheap knock-off action-figures and other stupid things. (This is souley my opinion.

The big idea in the video is that we don't realize what we spend as a community and that we have better purposes to use our money. There are people in places like India, Afghanistan, Kenya, Ghana etc.
ReplyDeleteThere is a phrase in the video saying "$150 000 could make a difference to over 1 000 000 people". This phrase means that if everyone on the Earth donated 48 cents, we could make over 1 000 000 peoples lives better. Also, I think this video is trying to prove that we can make a difference to people living in poverty but we choose not to. Also, I think that we should change the way we think about the poor people over in India.
The big idea of the song is that what we purchase for ourselfs can do a lot for others. I can tell this because of the song saying things like 500 dollars worth of makeup could make kids go to school and other things. Another idea is that if people cared more about people in poor countries our world would be better off. We should change our perspective of people in poor countries to, they don't have the oportunity to go somewhere else.
